Jane Lesslie has been managing portfolios of emerging market bonds for 15 years. She assumed responsibility for RBC Asset Management’s global emerging market debt strategies in 1999 embracing Latin America, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Middle East. She manages allocations for a number of the firm’s fixed income funds employing sovereign external debt, corporate bonds and local currency alternatives. She previously headed the division’s Latin American Private Client discretionary portfolio management team where she had direct responsibility for managing clients’ Latin American bond allocations.
Prior to joining RBC Asset Management, Jane was product manager for money market investments and interest rate risk management tools at the Royal Bank of Canada Treasury division, from 1988 to 1994. She previously worked as a public affairs advisor to various areas within the Royal Bank Financial Group, including the bank’s special sovereign loans team, then restructuring the bank’s Latin American problem loan exposure. Before joining RBC, Jane held positions as a journalist and later an advisor to Canada’s Minister of State (Finance) responsible for financial institution regulation.
She was awarded her Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter in 1996.
