Doug Coulter became President, RBC Asset Management in February 2009. As President he has overall responsibility for sales, service and product aspects of the RBC Asset Management business in Canada. This also includes the retail mutual funds business of PH&N.
Doug has 23 years of experience in the wealth management industry. He began his career in 1986 as an investment advisor in Montreal with RBC Dominion Securities (RBC DS). He then spent 5 years at TD Bank as an Investment Specialist in their Private Banking unit before rejoining RBC Dominion Securities in 1993. There he implemented the Fee-Based Account program which now makes up more than 50% of the firm’s revenue. This led to Doug taking on responsibility for all North American fee-based programs including both RBC DS and RBC Dain Rauscher before becoming the head of Canadian Wealth Management Services.
In 2005, Doug became President & CEO of RBC Direct Investing. Under his leadership RBC Direct Investing introduced unique product offerings such as mutual funds priced specifically for self-directed investors, launched innovative online tools and was awarded Dalbar's Direct Brokerage Service Award in both 2007 and 2008. All of these achievements contributed to increased market share for RBC Direct Investing.
