John Montalbano is Head of Global Asset Management, reporting to George Lewis, Group Head of RBC Wealth Management, a position he has held since May 1, 2008. He is also CEO of RBC Asset Management, President of PH&N and is responsible for Voyageur Asset Management in the U.S. John joined Phillips, Hager & North in 1987 as an equity analyst. Beginning in 1989, he took on responsibility for institutional client portfolio management, and later had overall responsibility for the distribution arm of the firm; in this role he was responsible for all client relationships, including the Private Client, Non-profit Client and Institutional Portfolio Management departments. He was appointed President of PH&N in April 2005.

John holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation as well as a Bachelor of Commerce, with Honours, from the University of British Columbia. He is a Leslie Wong Fellow at the UBC Portfolio Management Foundation.

John is a trustee of the Killam Trusts, which is largely devoted to scholarships at the graduate and postgraduate levels in Canada. John also serves on the board of the Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation, and the board of the Phillips, Hager & North Centre for Financial Research and Bureau of Asset Management.
